Northside Women's Clinic, Inc. (NWC) is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care Inc. (AAAHC) - an independent, not-for-profit organization that is the standard setting and accrediting body for all quality ambulatory surgery centers. AAAHC accreditation is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that indicates an organization's commitment to meeting top performance standards.

• Four registered nurses for surgery and postoperative recovery rooms.
• Full-time, experienced OB/GYN surgeons present in the clinic when you arrive.
  
• There is no waiting for the surgeon to come to the clinic.
  
• Electronic monitors and a registered nurse evaluate heart, blood pressure, pulse and respiration throughout surgery and recovery.
  
• Ultrasound guidance during the surgery to allow the surgeon to see inside the uterus for greater safety.

In 1995 Northside Women's Clinic management and employees began a self-evaluation study to determine what changes and improvements should be made into standards of patient care within our facility. Our goal was to achieve accreditation through a national organization that helps healthcare providers achieve a higher level of quality. This commitment resulted in better standards of care to our patients. The accreditation symbol is the sign of quality that a patient can use to guide them in selecting the surgery center for their care.

In 1997, the inspectors (all were professional, certified gynecologists) spent two days evaluating Northside Women's Clinic's total patient care. Northside Women's Clinic was granted their first 3-year accreditation by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Healthcare (AAAHC). In 2000, Northside Women's Clinic continued to make a strong commitment to patients by achieving a second 3-year accreditation while pursuing improvements in the ambulatory health field. Northside Women's Clinic is very proud of this accomplishment. Northside Women's Clinic is the only Georgia outpatient facility offering abortion care with AAAHC accreditation.

The Georgia Department of Regulatory Services (DHR) inspects Northside Women's Clinic, Inc. on an annual basis for compliance. Our most recent inspection found no problem or violations in care.

NWC was established in 1970 as an ambulatory surgical facility, providing women quality healthcare in a confidential and safe environment. State licensed and fully accredited by AAAHC, NWC has long been a benchmark in ambulatory surgery care for women in Atlanta. Their doctors, friends, coworkers, insurance carriers and healthcare agencies refer patients.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

NWC has a staff of skilled and experienced professionals committed to providing consistent quality care to the patient. Staff members have worked at NWC averaging 10+ years.

Our staff includes:

• OB/GYNs with over 20 years of experience and are staff members of Northside Hospital.
• A board-certified anesthesiologist and 2 certified nurse anesthetists.
• 4 registered nurses for surgery and recovery room.
• Board certified laboratory technologist.
• Trained counselor.
• Experienced and committed support staff.

NWC HAS LIABILITY INSURANCE for the surgery center. All professionals are also separately insured to protect the patient. Some abortion clinics do not have any insurance to protect the patient. Accredited surgery centers must have insurance separate from the doctor.
